The Russian PTS-0212 fishing boat was found on Wednesday in the Baltic Sea
The Russian PTS-0212 fishing boat, which was reported missing on December 11, was found on Wednesday in the Baltic Sea, 20 kilometres off the coast of the Kaliningrad Region. The boat was found at a depth of 60 metres, off Cape Taran, in the Baltic Sea, a representative of the Kaliningrad Sea Rescue Centre told Itar-Tass. Specialists are sure by 99 per cent that this is exactly the missing boat, which had six men on board. The dead bodies of two fishermen had been found before by the rescue service of Lithuania. The remaining four crewmembers are still missing. The boat was found with the help of an acoustic echo sounder by two fishing trawlers, which were staying in that area. Previously the Baltic Transport Prosecutor’s Office had instituted criminal proceedings on the fact of the violation of safety rules and the rules of the operation of a sea vessel, which resulted in the death of two or more people. The fishing boat was bound for the port of Svetly, Kaliningrad Region, but it did not come there in time. Representatives of the Baltrybkomp Company, to which the PTS-0212 fishing boat belonged, confirmed that the dead bodies were really the bodies of its crewmembers.
