Three Ukrainian pilots detained in Norway for attempting to fly a plane while drunk have been placed in custody for four weeks pending trial
Three Ukrainian pilots detained in Norway for attempting to fly a plane while drunk have been placed in custody for four weeks pending trial, a police spokesman said Wednesday. She said a restraining order has been issued because police believe they would likely flee the country. Police said the investigation is ongoing and will be completed within a month, adding that if convicted the detainees could be sentenced to several months in prison. Norwegian police detained seven Ukrainian crewmembers of an An-22 transport airplane who were preparing to fly in an intoxicated state. Four of them were subsequently released, but three, including the captain, were held pending their arraignment in court. The An-22 was to have delivered U.S.-made oil equipment to Baku, Azerbaijan.
