The Prosecutor-General Office has charged Liana Askerove with complicity in murdering Andrei Kozlov
The Prosecutor-General Office has charged Liana Askerove with complicity in murdering Andrei Kozlov, the deputy chairman of the Central Bank of Russia, law enforcers reported. Askerova’s lawyer Nikolai Klen told: “I do confirm that my charge was today faced with the accusation of complicity in murdering Andrei Kozlov.” He refused to comment on this or to supply any more information because of recognizance of nondisclosure. The Prosecutor-General Office the other day charged banker Alexei Frenkel with ordering Andrei Kozlov’s assassination. His lawyer Igor Trunov had said earlier Liana Askerova testified to Frenkel’s implication in the crime. First deputy chairman of the Central Bank of Russia Andrei Kozlov was killed in September 13, 2006 near the territory of Spartak sports complex. Fire was opened on him as he was leaving the territory of the sports complex. He was rushed to hospital with bullet wounds and died there without regaining consciousness. His driver was also killed.
