The Nord-1 fishing schooner flying the Cambodian flag has been detained in the Sea of Okhotsk on suspicion of poaching
The Nord-1 fishing schooner flying the Cambodian flag has been detained in the Sea of Okhotsk on suspicion of poaching. It was convoyed to the port of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski for investigation, a representative of the public relations group of the North-Eastern Coastal Guard Department under the Federal Security Service (FSB) told Itar-Tass. The schooner belongs to a Panamanian fishing company. The crew is made up of Russians. It was detained for inspection by the Askold Pynko coastal guard boat on January 17. It was established that the schooner had on board the equipment for crab fishing and transportation. Some six tons of frozen fish (herring and Alaska Pollack) were found in the refrigerators. The skipper failed to produce any documents allowing the fishing and the transportation of fish. Proceedings on an administrative offence were instituted on the case.
