The rector of Moscow University intends to bring the number of its students to 100,000 within the next few years
The rector of Moscow University intends to bring the number of its students to 100,000 within the next few years. “Our aim is to double the number of students, making Moscow State University the biggest university in the world,” Viktor Sadovnichy said at a news conference on Monday. At the present moment, slightly more than 40,000 people study at the university, he continued. The rector admitted that the lack of space restrains his ambitions. “The total area of facilities built by the university at the present moment makes up one million square meters,” he said. “We are making our territory twice as big,” he noted. The rector stated with satisfaction that the number of faculties has doubled over the past 15 years, from 16 to 35. According to Sadovnichy, the university has been “taken to the world level as concerns equipment.” Moscow State University “is undergoing a positive process of development,” the rector emphasized.
