Nine documents have been signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official visit to India. The Russian president and the Indian prime ministers also adopted a joint statement on cooperation in the nuclear energy sector and on a plan of functions dedicated to the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and India. The signed documents include the leaders’ joint statement on results of Putin’s visit, a programme of cultural exchanges in 2007-09, a protocol on holding a Year of Russia in India in 2008 and of the Year of India in Russia in 2009, a memorandum on the construction of new reactors for nuclear power plants in India. Chiefs the two countries’ space agencies signed two intergovernmental agreements on the GLONASS system - on providing to India access to navigation signals of Russia’s GLONASS system in peaceful purposes and of access to a part of frequency bands of Russia’s global navigation satellite system. Russian Federal Space Agency Director Anatoly Perminov and the Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman Madhavan Nair also signed an accord on cooperation of their agencies in a satellite project. The Russia Federal Customs Service and the Indian Finance Ministry’s customs and revenues departments signed a protocol on the exchange of information about goods and transport moved between Russia and India, an accord on cooperation between Russia’s Bank for Foreign Trade and Tekhnokhim-holding and India’s Saraff Energies Private.
