Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport has begun preparations for an IPO. “We are preparing for an IPO,” the airport’s Director General Mikhail Vasilenko told a press conference on Wednesday. The state owns 100 percent of the airport’s shares, the Prime-Tass news agency reported. In his words, the airport’s net profit in 2006 increased by 26.2 percent to 608.6 million roubles due to non-aviation activities. Passenger traffic at the airport in 2006 increased by 5.1 percent form the same period of the previous year to 12,764 people, the official said. More than 100 Russian and foreign airlines fly to and from Sheremetyevo. They made 155,660 takeoffs/landings at the airport in 2006.
