Russian President Vladimir Putin hopes that consultations with Iran will eventually produce a solution to problems facing Teheran
At a meeting with visiting adviser to Iran’s spiritual leader for foreign policy issues, Ali Akbar Velayati, the Russian leader said it was a great pleasure for him to see that an intensive, continuous dialogue at the working level. Putin recalled that Russia’s Security Council Secretary Igor Ivanov visited Teheran just recently. “Now we have the chance to meet with you and to receive from you the message of Iran’s spiritual leader,” Putin said. “Let me express the hope that in the course of the consultations we and the other participants in this process, first and foremost, our Iranian friends, will find solutions to the complicated problems we have been dealing with.” The Russian leader said that cooperation between Russia and Iran had a long history and was absolutely open and transparent. “We do hope that we shall be developing relations with the Iranian people and the Iranian state in politics and in economic cooperation,” Putin said.
