International military-historical festival, Royal Hill, opened in Kaliningrad
The first international military-historical festival, Royal Hill, opened in Kaliningrad (the Kaliningrad Region is a Russian enclave on the Baltic Sea) on Friday. The regional committee on tourism told RIA Novosti that the festival's main events would be held at the 40th Anniversary of the Komsomol park. During the festival, the park will look like a film set: knights with their damsels, squires and other menials will be walking in the park. There will be archery competitions, a historical costume show and contest, and a concert of medieval music. According to the committee, "the culmination of the festival will be a nighttime battle, a so-called 'bougourt' that everyone will take part in, and a subsequent siege and capture of a fortress." Then the victors will celebrate their success with a feast. More than 100 members of knighthood fraternities and historical clubs from Russia, Latvia, Belarus and Poland are expected to participate in the festival.
