All rescue services in Russia’ s Primorsky Territory were put on alert as a powerful cyclone is approaching the region
All rescue services in Russia’ s Primorsky Territory were put on alert as a powerful cyclone is approaching the region, the press service of the region’s chief department of the emergencies ministry told Tass on Friday. They said the cyclone will start influencing the weather in the region already on Sunday, while on Monday heavy snowfalls and gale-force winds are expected there. Situation in the Pyotr Veliky Bay causes particular concern, as up to four-meter-high waves are expected there. Communal services and the energy sector are also on alert. Two weeks ago a similar cyclone left about 80,000 residents of Primorye without heating and electricity. An emergency situation was announced in three regions. It took specialists three days to liquidate the aftermath of the cyclone. A storm warning was issued in Russia’s Primorsky Territory earlier on Friday. The cyclone will also hit the Khabarovsk and Sakhalin regions.
