United Russia should get a majority in both federal and municipal polls to ensure the continuity of Putin’s course
United Russia should get a majority in both federal and municipal polls to ensure the continuity of Putin’s course, Boris Gryzlov, the leader of the country’s hitherto number one party, said on Friday. “Victory is our main task,” he said. Gryzlov expressed the hope a majority of voters would support the United Russia party on the single election day, March 11. He recalled that over the past five years his party had been very active in implementing social and economic reforms. “All the good things that have happened over the past five years are to some extent a product of United Russia efforts. We took the responsibility for the situation in the country and we do not shirk it,” Gryzlov said. “I hope, the voters will be able to sort things out and choose a party that proves its right to exist with real steps, and not the one that just takes part in the 'best election pledge contest',” he said.
