The visa service of the German consulate-general began functioning in Yekaterinburg on Tuesday
The visa service of the German consulate-general began functioning in Yekaterinburg on Tuesday. It will take residents of the Sverdlovsk region three days to get Schengen visas. Later the programme will spread to the entire Urals region, to Bashkortostan, Perm territory and Orenburg region, so that there will be no need for residents of these areas to travel to Moscow to get visas. Yekaterinburg is the fourth city besides Moscow, St Petersburg and Novosibirsk, where entry visas to Germany can be obtained. The German consulate-general in Yekaterinburg will be issuing 30,000-40,000 visas a year. Consul-general Tilo Klinner promised that the visa service would be “an outlet to Europe” for Sverdlovsk business people, students, teachers and those who have relatives in Germany, and it would take less time to get visas. Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Eduard Rossel was the first to draw a visa from the new department of the German consulate-general.
