Two died and eleven were injured in a Friday accident of a passenger bus en route from Ulan Ude to China, a source at the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office said. The bus capsized into a ditch at about 6:00 p.m. local time (1:00 p.m. Moscow time) in the Petrovsk-Zabaikalsky district of the Chita region, the source said. “A KIA bus of businessman Vladimir Vasilyev was riding by the Irkutsk-Chita federal highway. It was carrying 19 passengers and two drivers from Ulan Ude to China,” the source said. “The driver lost control 15 kilometers away from the Khokhotui village, the bus rammed a metal fence and dived into a ditch. Two people died, and eleven were injured.” The Petrovsk-Zabaikalsky district prosecutor’s office opened a criminal case on the charge of a lethal breach of traffic safety rules. A scene investigation was held. Meanwhile, a source at the Interior Ministry’s traffic police department also put the blame on the driver. The bus missed a sharp turn and capsized into a ditch of 25-30 meters at the 703rd kilometer of the Irkutsk-Chita region, in the village of Zabaikalsky in the Chita region, at about 1:00 p.m. Moscow time, the source said.
