United Russia, CPRF and LDPR are ready to conclude similar agreements with other political forces too
United Russia, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) and the Liberal Democratic Party of the Russian Federation (LDPR), which signed on Friday an agreement on joint control over the pace of regional elections on March 11, are ready to conclude similar agreements with other political forces too. There are two days before the Sunday elections in Russia’s regions to sign an agreement which would allow to ensure “purity and legality of elections,” head of the United Russia CEC Andrei Vorobyev said at a press conference. He expressed the hope that today’s agreement will enable its signatories to jointly count votes on March 11. The parties intend to get from electoral commissions a copy of protocols and “just arithmetically count the number of votes cast for this or that political force,” secretary of CPRF CEC Oleg Kulikov explained the procedure. Such an agreement on joint control over elections and summing up of their results is concluded by Russian parties for the first time. The signing of the text at the federal level was anticipated by the conclusion of similar agreements by the parties’ regional branches.
