Russian First Vice Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov on Tuesday holds a meeting of senior staff of the Transport Ministry. The meeting participants summarises the results of the ministry work this year, as well as consider in detail plans for the future. Sergei Ivanov called for eliminating "transport inequality" in the country by developing the transport infrastructure. "Building our roads to the future, we encounter a serious obstacle which is called transport inequality," Ivanov stated at a meeting of the Transport Ministry's board on Tuesday. "At the heat of it is a whole complex of problems in the transport sphere," he added. The first deputy prime minister reminded in this connection about the poor condition of Russian roads and the fleet of transport vehicles. "Major expenses in the social, economic and political spheres of the country's life are a consequence of the irregular development of transport in Russia," Ivanov noted. "The elimination of transport inequality, foremost by developing transport infrastructure is not only capable of stimulating economic growth and contributing to national security, but also humanizing all spheres of life of the Russian society," he stated.
