The Russian government could raise the ceiling for growth in railway freight rates from 7% to 11% in 2008
The Russian government could raise the ceiling for growth in railway freight rates from 7% to 11% in 2008, a senior official said Thursday. "Probably, we'll have to make changes to scenario terms," Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov told a government meeting. The government earlier approved a forecast for railway freight rate growth by 7% in 2008, 6.8% in 2009 and 6.5% in 2010. Gennady Kuranov, deputy director of the consolidated department of macroeconomic forecasting at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, said Monday the increase in tariffs would not affect inflation in Russia.
