Militant was killed early Friday when he opened fire on policemen in Chechnya after they tried to apprehend him
A militant was killed early Friday when he opened fire on policemen in Chechnya after they tried to apprehend him, a spokesman for local law enforcement bodies said. "The exchange of fire took place near the village of Alkhazurovo [about 20 miles southwest of Grozny]," the spokesman said. "He [the militant] rendered armed resistance and opened fire on policemen when they attempted to apprehend him. He was killed in return fire after a short battle." None of the policemen were killed or wounded in the gunfire. The spokesman added that a Kalashnikov assault rifle, hand-made grenades and cartridges were found at the scene of the incident.
