Three children were taken to hospital in Tomsk on Sunday
Three children were taken to hospital in Tomsk on Sunday. They were hit by heaps of melting snow that fell down from roofs, a source at the regional department of the Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass. Two ten-year-old girls were hit by a snow heap from an apartment house, while an eight-year-old boy got injured while passing by a movie theatre, he said. The children’s condition is stable. The regional commission for emergency situations had an urgent meeting in that connection. Municipal administrations were ordered to immediately remove the snow from roofs. The fulfillment of this order will be checked up on Monday. Plenty of snow fell in the Tomsk region this winter. While snow has been removed from city streets, there is still heaps of it on the roofs. “A recent thaw caused the melting of snow and ice on the roofs, and pedestrians are in great danger,” the source said.
