Sergei Ivanov said on Thursday the financing of the state arms program will total 600 billion roubles in 2010
Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said on Thursday the financing of the state arms program will total 600 billion roubles in 2010. “For the first time we’ve fixed the state defence order for three years,” he said in his comments on Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin’s report on a draft budget for 2008-2010. “We’ve prepared a draft budget for the first time in such tight terms reconciling defence spending. Although many doubted that we can do this,” he said. Ivanov pointed out that the Defence Ministry would provide housing only for those servicemen, who signed contracts before January 1, 1998. He said the government would focus its efforts on the implementation of three federal target programs – “Development of Russian nanoindustry infrastructure,” “Development of electronic-component base in radio electronics” and “On nuclear and radiation safety and security.” Ivanov believes that a three-year budget is aimed at “diversifying component base and ensuring nuclear and radioactive security. economy, developing transport, industry and high technologies.” First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said almost all positions in relation to the implementation of priority national projects have been coordinated within the framework of the draft budget. “We have to synchronize our positions on innovative educational programs and on basic vocational education of retired servicemen,” he said.
