An Easter cross-bearing procession was held on Moscow Kremlin's Cathedral Square Monday
An Easter cross-bearing procession was held on Moscow Kremlin's Cathedral Square Monday, the second day of the paschal feast that traditionally lasts in Russia during the whole week following the Eastern day itself. The procession was led by the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II, who also attended a liturgy in the Assumption Cathedral of the Kremlin -- the church that, along with the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, is considered the main place of worship in the Russian Orthodox Church. Monday's ceremonies in the Kremlin brought together about 1,500 people, including numerous foreign tourists who were doing sightseeing there. In his address to the multinational congregation from the porch of the Assumption cathedral, Alexy II said he hoped "the joy of the Savior who has resurrected will accompany all the Christians along the course of life and will give them strength, faith, hope and courage."
