The Bolshoi Theater has dismissed the news about a new ballet devoted to the life and death of Princess Diana as "a newspaper canard"
The Bolshoi Theater has dismissed the news about a new ballet devoted to the life and death of Princess Diana as "a newspaper canard". "The news from London has surprised Bolshoi managers. The theater was not and is not planning to stage this ballet,” spokeswoman for the Bolshoi Theater Katerina Novikova told Tass Wednesday. "The Bolshoi is not aware of any ballet titled the Princess of the People being staged to music composed by some British composer," the spokeswoman said. "Naturally, any debut presentation in Moscow and then in London is out of the question," she stressed. The Bolshoi Theater will present two debut ballets, including the Le Corsaire staged by Bolshoi Ballet Chief Choreographer Alexei Ratmansky, and the Master Class by Asaf Messerer, nephew of famous ballet choreographer Mikhail Messerer, who is restoring the old ballet first staged by the celebrated choreographer. The debut presentations of these ballets will really be held this summer first in Moscow and then in London, where the Bolshoi Ballet will be performing for three weeks in July and August, the spokeswoman said.
