Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov will begin a three-day visit to Pakistan on Wednesday
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov will begin a three-day visit to Pakistan on Wednesday. Fradkov is expected to meet with his Pakistani counterpart Shaukat Aziz and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and to hold talks with Pakistan’s business representatives. The two parties will focus on a wide range of international and regional problems and discuss deeper bilateral trade and economic relations. Russia and Pakistan are also expected to sign agreements on stronger cooperation in railway transport, science, education, culture and sports and in the fight against drugs trafficking. The two countries’ delegations will analyse the work of the intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation and discuss prospects for cooperation in oil and gas exploration and development, electric energy, transport, agriculture and defence. This will be the first visit of Russia’s prime minister to Pakistan. The last time Soviet prime minister Alexei Kosygin visited the Islamic Republic was in 1969.
