St. Petersburg police have been investigating an incident involving a 33-year-old student from Morocco who was attacked and hospitalized on Tuesday night, a source from the St. Petersburg head Interior Department said. The foreign student who studies at the Medical Technical College was brought to a hospital from his apartment in Tsimbalina street. Preliminary reports said unknown bandits beat him up in the stairway of his house. The investigation has been studying two main versions - robbery and a petty crime. The victim has been robbed of cash and a mobile telephone, which suggests robbery was the main motive, the same source said. No clue pointing to an extremist character of the crime has been found. The hospitalized student from Africa was diagnosed with brain injury and a broken jaw. There is no threat to his life.
