Britain's Imperial Energy is ready to rectify violations of licensing agreements in the Tomsk Region in West Siberia
Britain's Imperial Energy is ready to rectify violations of licensing agreements in the Tomsk Region in West Siberia, Russia's environmental watchdog said Friday. Oleg Mitvol, deputy head of Russia's environmental regulator, said the results of audits into the fulfillment of licensing agreements by Nord Imperial, Allianceneftegas and Sibinterneft, which are integrated into Imperial Energy, had been submitted to the commission for license revocation. "Mitvol has asked the Prosecutor General's office to institute criminal proceedings against officials who allowed Imperial Energy to conduct preparatory operations for the construction of its pipeline [in the Tomsk Region] at the government's expense," the watchdog said in a press release. The environmental regulator said that federal state-owned forest companies in the Tomsk Region had transferred forest sections into a different category and cleared a firebreak. "Nord Imperial has almost completed the construction of a pipeline within the firebreak, with project characteristics of a pipeline coinciding with the amount of operations conducted by the forest companies," the Natural Resources Ministry said, adding that Nord Imperial did not have title documents for the forest sections where the pipeline had been built. Mitvol asked prosecutors to investigate the forest companies' activity and prevent the illegal pipeline from going on stream. Imperial Energy officials said the company would rectify the violations and could submit data on reserves at all license areas to the government.
