Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov has voiced satisfaction with negotiations with his Slovak counterpart Robert Fico. “We discussed nearly the entire range of Russian-Slovak relations and focused on trade and economic cooperation,” he said. “We also agreed to eliminate trade misbalances.” Bilateral trade grew by 45% to over $5.5 billion last year, the premier said. “We discussed fuel and energy cooperation, including the modernization and construction of nuclear power units and high-tech industries. Relations between regions are developing actively, which will promote business and facilitate the mutual access to markets of commodities and services,” he said. Fradkov and Fico lauded the activity of the intergovernmental commission. “We would like to develop humanitarian and cultural relations,” Fradkov said. In his words, they discussed bilateral relations in the light of Russia-EU interaction. Fradkov cordially thanked his Slovak colleague “for openness and frankness.”
