The Mi-8 helicopter, which was reported missing in the Koryak Autonomous District of Kamchatka on Thursday, was found later in the day. The chopper had to make a forced landing due to adverse weather conditions. None of the four persons on board were injured, officials of the Koryakia Office of the Ministry for Emergency Situations told Itar-Tass. Rescuers and medics are already on the spot of the accident. The lives of the three crewmembers and of one passenger (Olga Peshkova, chief of the Tigil airport) are not in danger. The helicopter has no serious damages. The reasons of the accident are now being investigated. The helicopter belongs to the Koryak Airlines Company. It took off from the Korf airfield at 02.13 Moscow time heading for the district centre of Palan. Contact with the helicopter was lost at approximately 03.30 Moscow time after it had passed the first of the three control points in the area of the Rikiniki River. It was established that after the forced landing, caused by heavy snowfall, the crew had transmitted a forced landing signal, which helped to establish the whereabouts of the chopper.
