Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday had a conversation with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier
Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday had a conversation with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Germany now presides over the Group of Eight and the European Union. The president and the minister met at a time when the Russia-EU summit is just two days away and when less than four weeks remain to go before the meeting of G8 leaders. Putin and Steinmeier are to discuss the most topical problems of bilateral relations and of the international, above all Russian-European, agenda. They include prospects for the conclusion of a new agreement on partnership and cooperation between the Russian Federation and the European Union, the Russian embargo on the import of Polish farm produce, and relations between the EU and Russia in the context of the situation with the transfer of the monument to the Liberator-Soldier in Tallinn. Putin already received Steinmeier in Moscow in December last. The Russian president then noted that Russia was satisfied with the implementation of the arrangements reached by the leaders of the two countries during the meetings in Tomsk and in Dresden in 2006.
