In 2005 the armed forces of Russia and China will hold a joint exercise
In 2005 the armed forces of Russia and China will hold a joint exercise. The memorandum has been signed on Tuesday by Russian Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov and Guo Boxioung, vice-chairman of the Chinese Central Military Commission. "We have instructed our general staffs to prepare the joint exercise", Sergei Ivanov said. In turn, Guo Boxioung said: "The memorandum is another step in the development of relations between our armed forces". "I deeply believe in the bright future of relations between Russia and China. I'm sure that our peoples will forever live in friendship and goodneighbourliness", he said. Gio Boxioung also stressed that China gives much attention to the development of military-technical cooperation with Russia, which is of a dynamic and on-going nature. During the talks, the sides emphasised that relations between Moscow and Beijing represent strategic partnership. Having discussed a wide range of bilateral, regional and international matters, Sergei Ivanov and his colleague discovered a coincidence of the basic approaches to a wide spectrum of questions. "Particularly, the approaches of Russia and China to the North Korean nuclear problem and the Middle Eastern settlement coincide", Sergei Ivanov said. "We come out for the creation of a multipolar corporative, if you prefer, system of international security taking into account the interests of all the countries and regions, as well as the traditions, history and mentality of each nation and the principles of international law", the Russian defence minister said.
