Major cache with arms and ammunition was found near Chita
A major cache with arms and ammunition, which belonged to a gang that robbed a branch of the Russian Savings Bank, was found near Chita. As ITAR-TASS learnt at the press service of the Interior Department of the Chita Region, a suspect told about the cache during an investigation of the case. The cache contained a homemade explosive device, 400 grams of plastid, 24 grenades and fuses for them, 16 TNT sticks, as well as a SKS carbine, a pump rifle, a hunting rifle and around 1,000 cartridges to hunting and rifled arms, as well as two Izh “Baikal” pistols with silencers which were, supposedly, used by attackers on the Savings Bank. “Police radio stations, uniform, traffic police badges and batons were found among the arms and ammunition,” a representative of the press service said. “The find makes it possible to suppose that the group participants committed a number of other grave crimes on the territory of the region.” Investigation is underway. A robbery attack on the Baikal Bank’s Chita branch of the Russian Savings Bank was made over night to May 12. Criminals stole 38 million roubles, 250 grams of gold and 1,750 grams of silver. During the attack, two guards were killed. While investigating the crime, the information on the involvement of six people in it was obtained. One of the bank guards was among them. He was killed by his accomplices in the same night. A total of 18.400 million roubles stolen from the Savings Bank were seized from a cache in a suburban forest. Besides, the body of an attacker was found in the forest. According to the preliminary version, the man was killed by his accomplices.
