Foreign ministers of the G8 industrialized nations will hold an informal meeting at Postdam May 30
Foreign ministers of the G8 industrialized nations will hold an informal meeting at Postdam May 30, a German Foreign Ministry spokesman said Wednesday. The main subjects on the agenda are Iran's nuclear problem, the situation in Kosovo, the Middle East, Sudan, and Afghanistan. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the German foreign minister, which holds the G8 rotating presidency, will present an action plan for the second half of the year. In particular, the ministers are to meet again in November to discuss political and economic reforms in the Middle East and North Africa, and then energy security at a meeting with "threshold states" in December. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will attend a meeting of the Middle East Quartet in Berlin, which will take place on the sidelines of the G8 foreign ministers meeting in Potsdam.
