The Krasnoyarsk territory legislature has elected Alexander Khloponin as governor for a second term. Forty-two deputies voted for the candidacy, eight opposed and another two were absent. The Krasnoyarsk territory appeared as a result of merger of the former Krasnoyarsk territory, the Taymyr and Evenk autonomous districts on January 1, 2007.
