Sea Economic Cooperation organization opened in Istanbul on Monday
A jubilee summit of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) organization opened here on Monday. The BSEC marks the 15th anniversary of its establishment this year. Taking part in its work is Russian President Vladimir Putin and the heads of other BSEC states. “The Istanbul summit is expected to sum up the results of the BSEC activities for the past few years and to consider the expansion of multifaceted cooperation within the BSEC framework,” presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko said. “The summiteers will exchange views on the ways to increase the effectiveness of the BSEC activities in order to consolidate the BSEC authority in the international arena,” he added. The BSEC organization brings together 12 countries – Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine. Thirteen countries, including Belarus, Germany, the United States, and France have the status of observer. Turkey took over the BSEC rotating six-month presidency in May.
