New Duma to sit on Dec. 29
MOSCOW - The new State Duma will have its first plenary session on Dec. 29, according to a decree signed by President Vladmir Putin over the weekend. Addressing the Cabinet at the traditional Monday meeting, Putin told government officials that he signed the decree on Dec. 20. “The first session of the new Duma has been set for Dec. 29. The decree is very simple, it consists of two clauses,” he added. Putin asked the Cabinet “to load the new Duma with work”. In January the legislators will, of course, discuss organizational issues, but the goal is to make sure that legal documents prepared by the government are received in Duma as soon as possible, Putin said, according to Izvestia.
