A senior U.S. State Department official will travel to Moscow and Paris July 16-20 where he will meet with political and private sector leaders to discuss energy security, financial stability, trade, the G8 and the investment climate, the State Department announced in a press release. The trip by Under Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Agricultural Affairs Reuben Jeffery III is his first since being nominated by President George Bush in April and confirmed by the Senate in June. Prior to his appointment, Jeffery served as chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the U.S. agency that regulates commodity futures.
