Six Russian hostages have been released in Nigeria
Six Russian hostages have been released in Nigeria. Their release was effected in the city of Port Harcourt in the country's south last night in the presence of journalists. The hostages had been seized about two months ago. Those released are members of personnel of the RUSAL-owned Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) plant. They had been taken hostage within the plant's guarded settlement. Their houses had been blown up. The Russian company RUSAL had acquired the controlling interest of the ALSCON last year. RUSAL had purchased the state-owned block of shares.
