The Primorsky Territory transferred five million roubles to victims of a strong earthquake
The Primorsky Territory transferred five million roubles to victims of a strong earthquake, which rocked the Sakhalin city of Nevelsk. Governor of the Primorsky Territory Sergei Darkin signed an ordinance to this effect on Thursday. Money was allocated from the reserve fund of the regional governor, the press center of the Primorsky administration told Itar-Tass on Thursday. “All of us should help our neighbors in Sakhalin, do our best so that people would return to the usual life as quick as possible,” the governor emphasized. Residents of the Primorsky Territory reacted quickly to the mischief of their neighbors. In Primorsky settlements the raising campaign was launched, and ordinary residents of the territory and organisations donate money and necessary things for the quake victims. Soccer players of Luch-Energia Vladivostok transferred in the fund of the quake victims all earnings from a match with Spartak Moscow. On August 2, a devastating earthquake jolted Nevelsk, tremors of 6-7 points were registered in the city. Several buildings collapsed in Nevelsk, 85 apartment blocks cannot be reconstructed. These buildings are being pulled down. Instead of the destroyed housing new housing will be built to resist an earthquake of nine points on the Richter scale.
