Twenty-five pneumonia patients remain in hospital in the Sverdlovsk Region
Twenty-five patients, who contracted pneumonia during the outbreak of that disease, remain in hospital in the Sverdlovsk Region. Eight patients were checked out during the past weekend, a representative of the regional health department told Itar-Tass. A total of 141 patients have been already checked out from the hospital of the city of Verkhnyaya Pyshma. Specialists from the Vektor State Research Centre of Virusology and Biotechnology, Novosibirsk, confirmed the diagnosis of “legionellosis pneumonia” for 70 patients. The outbreak of pneumonia began in Verkhnyaya Pyshma on July 20. While the number of the people, who contracted the disease, was growing, 166 people were put to hospital. Five of them died. Specialists believe that the disease had spread through the hot water running in the water-supply network after a pressure test.
