Belgian police have found the country's largest cannabis crop in the Antwerp province
Belgian police have found the country's largest cannabis crop in the Antwerp province, in the country's north, local media said Wednesday. The plants were growing in a greenhouse over an floor space of 10,000 square meters (108,000 square feet) in a rural area. If left to full maturity, the crop could have yielded 7.5 metric tons (2,205 pounds) of cannabis, according to police estimates. The greenhouse was rented by unidentified tenants, who police believe were of Dutch origin. A search for the growers is underway. In neighboring Netherlands there is a non-enforcement policy when it comes to soft drugs. The possession of cannabis for personal use, which amounts to five cannabis plants or five grams of marijuana, is not considered an offense.
