Russia may have no less than five presidential candidates
Russia may have no less than five presidential candidates, President Vladimir Putin said at a Friday meeting with the Valdai Debate Club members. “They said 12-18 months ago that we have none to run for president. Now we have no less than five candidates. It is good that another candidate has emerged. Russia will have a choice,” he said. Viktor Zubkov has the right to aspire for presidency, the same as any other citizen of Russia, Putin said. In his words, Zubkov has already given a correct answer to the media. “He said he would have to achieve certain results at the current position before aspiring for a new one but did not rule out his participation in the presidential race,” Putin said. “It is hard to say anything definite. He will have to work at a rather difficult period. We shall wait and see,” he said.
