Gazprom has notified European partners of problems in gas deliveries to Ukraine
Gazprom has notified European partners of problems in gas deliveries to Ukraine, the concern press service said on Tuesday. “Russia fully complies with the contract, while the Ukrainian gas debt has topped $1.3 billion,” Gazprom said. The concern said it might suspend gas deliveries to Ukraine if the debt is not settled. “Bearing in mind the approaching winter season and higher demand for gas, as well as the Ukrainian recurring failures to fulfill gas contracts, Gazprom will have to reduce gas deliveries to Ukrainian consumers if the debt is not settled in October,” the company said. “Gazprom has repeatedly asked Ukrainian colleagues for the soonest payment of the gas debt, yet no practical steps have been taken,” the company said. This year’s gas price for Ukraine is based on the solvency of the Ukrainian economy. Ukraine is ready for market prices on gas, the company said. “Gazprom expects a constructive solution of the problem with our Ukrainian partners and pledges to do its best in the fulfillment of export contracts,” the company said.
