President Vladimir Putin met with Yevgeny Primakov
President Vladimir Putin met with Yevgeny Primakov, the president of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Wednesday to discuss the chamber’s interaction with the government. When speaking about the chamber’s work, Primakov said it was seeking to “put the Russian economy on an innovative footing”. “The second objective is in the social sphere. There must no such gap between the rich and the poor. And the chamber has vast possibilities for that,” he said. According to Primakov, there are 71terrotirial chambers of commerce in Russia, and this is “a working system”. Speaking of the chamber’s relationship with the government, he said it has maintained “a good relationship” with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and preserved it after the change of the minister. At the same time, he admitted, “We have question to the Finance Ministry”. “I attended a meeting of our committee on small business today where a relevant law in this field was discussed, but its passage to the second reading [in the State Duma] has been slowed down. Many things have been removed, which has complicated the development of small business,” Primakov said. He asked the president to help accelerate the passage of the law through the parliament.
