Sergei Lavrov and Miguel Angel Moratinos have discussed the activities of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe
Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Spain Sergei Lavrov and Miguel Angel Moratinos have discussed the activities of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), in particular aimed at the Dniester region conflict settlement, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday on the results of their telephone conversation. The Spanish foreign minister is the OSCE Chairman-in-Office. “Moratinos informed the Russian foreign minister about the results of his recent visit to Moldova in the capacity of the OSCE chief,” the ministry officials noted. “The ministers exchanged views on the situation in the Dniester region settlement,” they added. In the context of the preparations for a meeting of the OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers in Madrid on November 29-30 the parties “discussed most pressing issues of the organisation’s functioning,” according to the ministry. The Foreign Ministry noted that the sides stated “the high level of the development of Russian-Spanish relations, which was confirmed by them during talks of Russian President Vladimir Putin with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero in Sochi on September 28.”
