Moscow may hold the first Youth Olympics-2010 on a very high level
Moscow may hold the first Youth Olympics-2010 on a very high level, chief of the Federal Sport and Physical Culture Agency Vyacheslav Fetisov said after a Wednesday meeting chaired by the premier on Moscow’s bid to host the first Youth Olympics. In his view, “We have no doubts that if Moscow wins the right to host the Youth Olympics the Russian capital will hold the best Olympics in such format.” “We support fully Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov’s initiative, the more to say the first unofficial youth games were held in Moscow, and Moscow is fully entitled to bid for hosting the Youth Olympics,” Fetisov believes. “I always stated that Moscow is not only the capital of our motherland, but also the world sport capital that is ready to hold competitions of any level even full-fledged Olympic Games,” he said noting that Moscow “has a great potential” for the Olympics. He recalled that sport movements in Russia are on a very high level. Russian teams show good results in various international competitions, and “the international federations give us the highest marks.” “Moscow has hospitality, traditions and the cultural heritage that should be among the major components of its Olympic bid,” Fetisov believes. In his view, “the Youth Olympics is a chance for children to unite the world, if children make friends parents will have nothing to do but to follow the suit.”
