Russia has confirmed all commitments under the Bushehr nuclear power plant construction contract with Iran and is determined to comply with them
Russia has confirmed all commitments under the Bushehr nuclear power plant construction contract with Iran and is determined to comply with them, Russian presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko told Itar-Tass, when asked for a comment on the recent publication in Israel’s daily Haaretz. The daily quoted Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert as saying Russia made a decision not to supply nuclear fuel to Iran. “Russia confirmed its commitment to all contractual obligations regarding Bushehr and it is determined to honor them. Naturally, there has to be the understanding that all those obligations are known to the IAEA and fully comply with the rules of that organization, and the Bushehr project itself has been implemented under the control of that international organization from the very outset,” Prikhodko said. The Russian atomic energy agency Rosatom’s spokesman, Sergei Novikov, has told Itar-Tass “the Russian provider companies are prepared to comply with their liabilities as before in accordance with the statements Russian President Vladimir Putin made during the visit to Teheran.”
