Of the 21 apartments in the Samara house partially destroyed by blast, 19 had tenants, deputy head of the Emergency Situations Ministry's information department Col Viktor Beltsov told Itar-Tass. The gas blast in the house located in Alexei Tolstoi Street, occurred at 20:15, Moscow time, on Wednesday. One part of the two-level building had five storeys, and the second part - six storeys. The building was joined by a two-storey non-residential structure. Beltsov confirmed that the house, built in 2004, accommodated expensive apartments. "The non-residential building was partially damaged in the explosion; ceilings in the apartment house were damaged only on the first two floors, and the outer wall structure was damaged as well," the spokesman said. Latest reports said three persons have been hurt, a man and a married couple. The husband had a cranial wound and his wife suffered multiple bruisers and a fracture. "The man is in very serious condition; he has 95-percent skin burns and is in intensive therapy now," Beltsov said. The debris clearing efforts is continuing at present.
