Regulations on the journalists' work in a zone of the anti-terrorist operation in the North-Caucasian region of the Russian Federation have appeared on the official site of the Russian foreign ministry
The Regulations point out that media workers must receive special accreditation for work in a zone of the anti-terrorist operation. The Regulations list the necessary documents and define the timeframe for obtaining accreditation documents. Accreditation documents for Russian journalists are issued by the interior ministry's department of information and regional and public contacts for a term of up to six months. Accreditation documents for foreign journalists' work in a zone of the anti-terrorist operation are issued by the foreign ministry's department of information and the press. In order to obtain accreditation for work in a zone of the anti-terrorist operation, foreign journalists must first get accreditation at the Russian foreign ministry in accordance with the Rules of Foreign Journalists' Accreditation and Stay in the Russian Federation, as endorsed by Resolution r 1055 of the Russian Federation's government of September 13, 1994 (placed in Russian and English on the official Internet site of the Russian foreign ministry www.mid.ru in the section "To Assist Journalists"). Foreign journalists receive accreditation for work in a zone of the anti-terrorist operation for a term of up to six months. However, the accreditation term cannot exceed that at the Russian foreign ministry.
