In the course of his working trip to the Murmansk Region, Russian Defence Minister Sergey Ivanov is due to attend the Avaria-2004 joint exercises held in the framework of Russia-NATO Council, the Russian Defence Ministry press release reads. "Cleaning up the aftermath of emergencies and incidents involving nuclear weapons will be trained during the exercises," the message reads. According to the Defence Ministry press service, over 50 observers from NATO member-states are to take part in the exercises. The plan of work for Russia-NATO Council provides for continuation of joint exercises in the territory of NATO's member-states possessing nuclear weapons, the document reads.
