The issue of replacement of deputies' privileges with monetary compensations is not to be considered yet
The issue of replacement of deputies' privileges with monetary compensations is not to be considered yet, reported Lyubov Sliska, the first Vice Speaker of the State Duma, member of the United Russia General Council. "Such a decision was proposed, but I believe that at first, the order of deputies' privileges must be defined," Ms. Sliska said live on the Echo of Moscow radio. In her opinion, deputies' privileges are much spoken about now. "But it turns out that the service staff uses them, and not the deputies who in fact do not have many privileges, though there are certain guarantees," Ms. Sliska said. She added that the issue of raising wages of State Duma deputies is not subject for consideration yet. Speaking about the law on beneficial payments adopted by the State Duma, the first Vice Speaker expressed confidence that the Federation Council will back it too. "If we want to destroy the country's economy, we need to preserve natural privileges, and if we really want to help Russians, we need to raise wages and pensions, as well as pay compensations," Ms. Sliska believes. The adoption of the law on beneficial payments, ambiguously perceived by society, will not tell on the popularity of United Russia, a pro-presidential party, by whose efforts it was adopted, Ms. Sliska believes. "United Russia will have the majority of seats in the next Duma. I am sure that in a year's time, draft laws adopted today will demonstrate their advantages," said the first vice speaker. Ms. Sliska said the party submitted over 5,000 amendments. "I do not want to laurel only United Russia, but you see - protest sentiments have faded, because people have read what the law will contain," said the vice speaker. In her opinion, the cancellation of the multi-stage and often unrealizable system of privileges created by previous make-ups of the Duma members, has long become ripe. "The country can't be turned into a big social security agency," she said. The first vice speaker expressed disagreement with the opinion of some representatives of the sports public that the Duma-adopted amendments to the law "On Advertising", which restrict beer advertising, will "bury" sport. "At a stadium, at a hockey ground, at the Olympic Games, there may be posters," Ms. Sliska said. "We only banned beer advertising as a drink during a hockey or football match, if it is on TV from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
