The Rostov Court has found singer Filipp Kirkorov guilty of insulting Rostov journalist Irina Aroyan
Now, the pop singer will pay a 60,000-ruble (about $2,000) fine. The court ruling proceeds from "the rules of behavior accepted and established in society," justice of the peace Irina Vladimirova said. As the court decision reads, "Kirkorov, being a best-known performer and an example for imitation for the young people, has intentionally and cynically insulted Irina Aroyan." In the opinion of the court, proofs she has produced in court can be the grounds for the case. The court took critically the defendant's explanations given at the press conference. Filipp Kirkorov was charged on the Criminal Code article intending liability for insults in a public place - a fine or a corrective labor term up to one year.
