The return of the famous Faberge collection caused the greatest sensation in the past cultural season
The return of the famous Faberge collection, which belonged to the Forbes family, caused the greatest sensation in the past cultural season. SUAL Holding owner Viktor Vekselberg purchased the collection and brought it to Russia. According to Andrei Shtorkh, representative of the Svyaz Vremen fund, the treasures were brought to Russia temporarily, so that the collection could be shown at foreign exhibits. The famous Easter eggs created for the Russian royal family and others, precious portrait frames, cigarette cases, clocks and small eggs-trinkets were exhibited in the Patriarch's Palace in Moscow Kremlin, Mr. Shtorkh told the Vremya Novostei newspaper. Over 35,000 people attended the exhibit, which is an insignificant number for Moscow. Director general of the Moscow Kremlin museums Yelena Gagarina said that the exhibit, Faberge: Lost and Regained, was very successful. In her opinion, "the interest in the exhibit was so great that we had to organize special displays to let people contemplate the showpieces and prevent them from crowding." However, this way of organizing the exhibit and very high ticket prices limited the number of visitors, Vremya Novostei stressed. After that, the exhibit will be shown in Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg (Hermirtage), Irkutsk and Tyumen.
